ARTWORK

Artworking is a vital stage in the process of translating a design concept to finished print.

It is at the artwork stage that we would address potential problems relating to layout and content e.g.

Layout - ensure the artwork corresponds exactly to a proven cutter or layout.

Step and Repeat - where a design is stepped, check that the unit is stepped at exactly the right amount and that units that are supposed to be identical remain so.

Text - where possible in an artwork file it is advisable to leave text as editable (or have editable text on a separate layer), this enables inevitable modifications to be made quickly and easily, however always ensure that any fonts used are recorded and can be made available.

Scans - these should be located in the correct position in the layout file. If low resolution or preview versions of the final scans are to be used always ensure that they are the exact same size as the final images so that no accidental movement takes place when they are replaced.
